It's jailbroken. And the video says its 4.0 on the about screen. If this was iOS 5, it would be an embarrassment.

First, it would be patented material, not copyrighted material. And patent infringement, especially design patents, is really quite easy to pursue.
Quite possibly there are no actual patents covering the design of the case (would not pass requirement for non-obviousness or inventive step, unless some exotic materials are used, for example). What they no doubt have is an industrial design right to the case, which are called design patents in the US. They might also have trademark protection on shape. And, naturally, a contract with the actual manufacturer, which might pursue the person for stealing their products, if the products are not legally the property of Apple. This would not be an option if they are produced by some third party. There may be copyrights involved, if the product is deemed to pass the "threshold of originality". Some countries have laws on good business practices, which may apply in this case.
All in all, if it seems unlikely that a 17-year old kid could legally sell this stuff and make a bundle, it is probably true.

Glad to see they are getting someone with experience. I would hate to see the data center flop becasue no one knows how to properly run it.

They are just trying to please the shareholders, without capsizing the boat. I highly doubt we will ever see such an inovative product such as the ipod from Apple again(hardware) It still shocks me that they came out with an MP3 player 5 years ago. One product. There have been a plethora of great products out since not including DAP/MP3 and Apple hasn't had there name on one. I needed a stinking Camera!!!!!!! Though it looks like the MacBooks not Pros are getting a little bump.

There is some confusion I don't understand. These push notifications will barely use any battery because most of the work is done on some servers on Apple's end of the equation. It's not the same as the app running in the background to notify you of pushed stuff. I've been getting notifications from AP, CNN and MSNBC for a while without noticing any battery issues. The whole point of Apple's push notification server was to conserve battery life.
I just got a couple of notifications while typing this. It just shows up like a text message would while your phone is in standby and will put a badge on the Facebook icon. The sound is also the same as SMS.
This is a very good addition. Now if TweetDeck could just add that.

3.33 ghz i7 6-core is better than a 2.4 ghz 8-core Mac Pro for Logic imo. You want each core to be fast too so none will hit their ceiling.

Also it was stated that it is a key feature on the Pro and they need a reason for it to seem "Pro". Who would choose a thicker/heavier computer if you could get the thinner lighter computer with the same features? Minus the optical drive of course.
I'll repeat my analogy from another thread: If Ford all the sudden decided to remove air-conditioning on all but their high end cars, saying it is a 'luxary' feature that 'differentiates' the model line ... we'd ALL call BULL ...!!!
It is the same with the backlit keyboard on the MBA, which was for years a standard feature. To take it away now in order to 'differentiate' it from the pro models, is total bull....!!
If you want to differentiate the pro's you add even more features. You DON'T remove once-standard features on other models and all the sudden call it a 'luxary' item.

Wow, I expected PPC support to drop in a few years, not a few months. Sucks for anyone with the Quad G5s. Sucks for me with my dual G5. :(
I hope this won't be a common trend.
Amen! Why not just release it Universal and check the other box when compiling?

Option 2 is better, there's no need to add "Mac" to the beginning, nor is there a need to split Desktops and Laptops because Apple has had very few distinct lineups, and not every variation needs it's own article, so all the iMacs would be covered inside a single iMac page rather than splitting them out between G3, G4, G5/Intel Core (2) Duo, and Intel Core 2 Duo (2007 and later) reducing article clutter. It would be pretty much the same idea for the Powerbook line, the iBook line, the Macbook line, the Macbook Pro line, the PowerMac line, the Mac Pro line, etc.
Wait a minute. You're saying to have just a single article for ALL iMacs? OK, sure number of clicks goes down, but then you get the "Oh where did that piece of information go?" and a tired finger from scrolling ;) The PowerMac page would be huge and for people with slow/ mobile connections, the load times would be painful.
Anyway, I agree with HexMonkey, instead of wasting time trying to do Beta categories, we should just decide right now in text, then do the whole thing in one sweep.
I still think Option 1 is superior. If a "Hardware", "Software" split was done, pages like "iPhone" and "iPhone Applications" would be split up, which isn't necessary. "iPhone" needs its own category.

The article states that tax cuts have not worked. They seem to be basing that claim on the fact that the states have not seen improvement in their economies after the tax cuts. That is not the correct metric with which to judge the effectiveness of any policy. The question should be whether the economy would have been even worse without the tax cuts. The article does not address this.
I've lived virtually my whole life in California and have no clue what you're talking about.
Perhaps you can source that.
As for balance, I'm a big believer in it. In my opinion an "balanced" solution includes tax increases as well as government cuts. Unfortunately, the republicans have fought tooth and nail against tax increases and have tried to balance a 26 billion dollar deficit with cuts. If only they embraced the notion of "balance".
I believe California has one of the highest income tax rates at over 9% for people making over mid-40k. And California has one of the highest sales tax, at 9.75% where I am. And despite this, California has one of the worst budget deficits and some of the most regulations.
Coincidentally, I've been toying with moving to either Washington or Texas and I've finally decided that it's time. For the cost of taxes in California, I could pay my rent in Washington or Texas for the entire year. And I can't think of one thing the California state government provides that the Washington state government doesn't that I would really miss.

Perhaps it would be more palatable with a monthly subscription rather than coughing up $99 for a full year in advance. Heck, they could charge higher monthly fees for increased storage and I bet people would pay.
This isn't 2004. 1gb total storage for email and idisk is pitiful when Yahoo, Hotmail and Google already offer over 2gb of email space alone, for free.

The gas price (EURO95) as of today (Netherlands):
€1,675/Liter <--> €6,35/US Gallon
€6,35=$8,90/US Gallon.
So.. It's always been expensive but this is bad.
----
The picture that is shown tells you how much cheaper (in %) the other countries are (compared to The Netherlands).

First of all, i don't know how legit this is, but for argument sake let the OP be true.
I can see Apple giving the developers of Infinity Blade and Real Racing an iPhone with the A5 chip. Is it the iPhone 5? No. It's just an iPhone 4 + A5 chip.
The actual iPhone 5 will have much more features. Apple always does this, because at the end of the day they're a business and they will add features which they omitted from iPhone 4. To get everyone to upgrade.
I think iPhone 5 is Apple's top secret atm, hence we're barely hearing anything about it and it'll be May in a couple weeks.
If the iPhone 5 is to be launched in September, then it'll probably have killer features or else it makes no sense right?
I highly doubt Apple will call the next phone, iPhone 4S. It makes no sense.
iPhone = iPhone 1
iPhone 3G = iPhone 2
iPhone 3GS = iPhone 3
iPhone 4 = iPhone 4
iPhone 4S = iPhone 5 ?
iPhone 5 = iPhone 6 ?
see what i mean? They'll probably stick to iPhone 5, or they'll adapt Roman Numerals.
Now, regarding LTE/4G.
Majority of America isn't ready for LTE, forget about the world. So I don't understand the need of it for this year's iPhone revision, but it makes sense for 2012.
What will you be extracting from the cloud that will require LTE? Will you be rendering 3D models on the cloud or something?
