This post is the first in a new series I am planning for the blog called titled "Local Inspiration".
One of the best things about living in Melbourne and around the area I am living in is the amazing variety of architecture and scenery. Art Deco Architecture is a little bit of a passion of mine and the
St Kilda area and full of fantastic examples of this timeless style.
Over the next few months I plan to take you on a visual tour of Melbourne bring to you some of the things I find inspiring about this beautiful city starting with an Australian Icon, The Palais Theatre.
Built in 1927 it was one of the largest theaters in the southern hemisphere at the time.
The Building which still has its original features is one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in Australia and is on the Victorian Heritage Register. The exterior of the building was inspired by Moorish and Egyptian styles whilst the interior is decorated in Baroque style.
It is an amazing and imposing site situated next to Luna Park which was also styled similarly as part of a greater St Kilda Entertainment District at the time..
