I German exchange student was rescued by a group of Ninjas as he was attacked by 3 assailants in Sydney earlier this week. The Medical student who had just disembarked from a train and was headed home in the western suburbs was tripped and kicked whilst lying on the ground. His muggers took his mobile phone and iPod.
What the attackers did not realise was that they were just outside of the Ninja Senshi Ryu and that Ninjitsu student Nathan Smith was standing in the shadows observing the incident. Nathan quickly went inside and told his sensei, Kaylan Soto.
The three men were confronted by a group of Ninjas wearing traditional black ninja gear as they chased off and pursued the students assailants.
Kaylan Soto, a sensei with 30 years' Ninjutsu training, and three of his students raced out of the dojo to assist the German student. All five Ninjas were clad in the ninja's traditional black uniform and quickly startled the attackers.
''We would have been just a silhouette,'' said ninja, Steve Ashley. ''It was probably the worst place in Sydney where they could have taken him.''
Mr Soto said it took the three assailants a few moments to realise what was going on. When they did, they quickly fled the scene. ''You should have seen their faces when they saw us in ninja gear coming towards them,'' he said.
The ninjas gave chase, but the men escaped only to be apprehended by later Police.
The medical student, who has been in Sydney for eight weeks on an exchange program, was left shaken but suffered only minor injuries.
